From The Playground

Our outdoor play area is spacious and full of opportunities for meaningful learning. Our risky play environment allows for children to engage in experiences like tree climbing and creating their own play ideas with loose parts. The children’s strong urges of climbing and jumping often brings them to our huge eucalyptus tree where we often find them developing ideas and challenging their physical limits.

Our loose parts, such as the reels and wooden planks encourages children to problem solve and offers the perfect opportunity for participation. These opportunities share the message that we view children as capable decision makers and supports the idea of self-directed learning.

The loved bike track extends around the back of the playground. It’s well used and often we see relationships forming with children creating games and having races. Our mud kitchen is always busy with conversation and children inviting each other into play. They use their imagination to act out scenarios and use nature as their play materials.

We allow for long periods of uninterrupted outdoor play as we believe rich learning can evolve from this type of play. Our role as Teachers is to facilitate this by noticing their play and contributing to their learning by connecting with their interests and asking questions that facilitates thinking.
